If I had to describe these Fics with ONE word, it would be: Serenity
( Book 3 & its still being written, so I may change the image for that one later, if it doesn’t fit.)
Imagine what would have happened if Zuko accidentally joined the Gaang in book 1!!! That is what this series is about! It is separated into 3 books just like the show, and I gatta tell ya, the way the author melds this version of Zuko being everywhere the Gaang went is SO SMOOTH!!!
We follow the series as it went, only what it would have been like had they had Zuko early on. It’s so wonderful! I just LOVE Zuko and Katara together! The attention to detail is really great as well! For example, since in this version Zuko would have joined before Toph, the author takes into consideration small details that would have been affected. Like Toph giving Zuko and Katara different nicknames because of the circumstances. But they are perfect nicknames and fit so well!
I will say that book 2 was WAY funnier than book 1. It was very enjoyable! Lol.
The ONLY thing about the series that really bothers me is the fact that most of the time the author completely forgets to tell us what everyone is wearing or what their hair looks like. For a while, you start to think to yourself: “Well, if he hasn’t shaved his head in a while, then surely it’s growing out by now?” But you’re never sure, because the author never tells us……until waaaayyyyy later. When it’s FINALLY reviled, that: “oh yes, his hair is longer by this point.” But we should have been told that WAY sooner.
Not knowing what they’re wearing or how their hair is styled is very inconvenient to me as an extremely visual reader. I imagine EVERYTHING like I’m watching a movie. So without these details, I’m left to try and guess what’s going on with the wardrobe and hair.
Plus, when they sneak out, what are they wearing? Is it the clothes they had on before? The “ninja” clothes? Something else? Its left to the reader to decide, because we are never told. :/
*Side note: If feels like the author has a weird obsession with hands. Or at least with Zuko’s hands. Its uh……it’s really weird. Lol.
Book 1 & 2 are complete, Book 3 is up to chapter 5 and was last updated in the beginning of June 2020. :)
They are so good! So good, so good, so good! Go read em! :D
(Unfortunately, there is language, so that is different than from the show. But I’m able to just “read over it” and pretend it’s not there, and/or I just substitute it with something else. )
