WARNING: LONG REVIEW! (There’s just too much to say! You get the good, bad & UGLY here! But no spoilers. ;)

If I had to describe this Fic with ONE word, it would be: PORN!!! lol

(Complete, total, unadulterated, PORN! O.o !!!)

With 78 Chapters, this baby could have EASILY been multiple books. But to keep things simple, its all kept together as one. ^_^

I need to start out by saying, that normally I do NOT read FanFics like this! (rated: XXX) I’m a huge advocate for the fact that a story can still be wonderfully amazing without such things.

Was this a good story? Overall, yes.

Would the story still have been as good without the bedroom details? Yes! Absolutely.

How did I end up reading this when I normally wouldn’t? This FanFic was on Archive of our Own. I normally read on FanFic.net. So I wasn’t familiar with what to look for as far as a description goes. So I saw all these tags: Zuko, Katara, Zutara, Avatar, etc, etc…. and, why waste my time reading all of them? Right?....right!?....So yeah….I just scrolled right by all those “useless” tags and started reading.

The thing about this site though, is when you click: “Next Chapter”, it very conveniently takes you straight to the beginning of the chapter, and bypasses all those “useless tags” for you…..

(NEVER BYPASS THE TAGS! READ ALL THE TAGS! O.O !!!)

So by the time I got to the first indecent scene, I was waaaayyyyyy too far into the story to give up. Had the story been too bad or too OOC, I would have had no problem exiting out, as I have with other FanFics. But this story ended up being written so well, and had me always wondering what the heck was going to happen next, that I decided to keep going. (And at this time I had *no idea* there was a cleaner version to check out. Otherwise, I would have switched gears and read that instead.)

I say: “ended up” being written well, cause uh….it is difficult to get into at first. It starts out very difficult to enjoy, but then ends up being really good.

These points will be listed in the order they were read.

Buckle up! And uh..try to remember that I did state that this is a GOOD story! XD

1 - At the beginning of this story the characters emotions are recycled over and over and OVER again. Had the writer only stated these emotions once or twice and then moved on, it would have been much better.

2 – There are some overlooked details that bothered me. At a time when Zuko has no way to shave, stubble is mentioned to be showing on his face, but then we NEVER hear about body hair again.

Literally WEEKS go by, but apparently there was a razor found somewhere (I dunno), because Katara's legs are described as smooth, & there is no mention of Zuko’s beard ever again, nor poor Katara's under arms. (ha!, I mean..seriously though, that's a problem for women. ;) )

3 - In the beginning of this Fic, I feel that Zuko & Katara should be way smarter & more mature than the story allows them to be. Their decision making process on love & feelings seems poor at best.

(Just my opinion. Please don't "kill" me. It's still a GOOD story!)

4 – Obvious solutions aren’t obvious. In one scene they are practically starving, yet there's wild life ALL around them. Zuko can capture and take down any man, but coming up with an idea of how to catch birds eludes him!???

Not once do either of them consider using their bending to capture an animal to eat! (Ice dagger through a bird maybe?)

5 - Zuko becomes such a love sick puppy that his apologies start to sound like he's now Aang and no longer himself. It was VERY OOC, and had me seriously considering giving up on this Fic. But luckily it got better. But still….Aang emotions on Zuko do NOT look/feel good.

6 – There is some cornyness in this story. 🌽But hey...if you like that kind of thing..enjoy. XD

7 - At one point, Zuko becomes CREEPY & almost unhealthy possessive! It's too far. His comments go beyond caring into straight up being rude at times. And Katara's reaction is her smiling!?

I don't think so....

At one point he makes an commanding exclamation to her followed by: "Do you understand!?"

He just gets…mean…. Its weird.

8 - Waaaaayyyyyy too much explicitness. After they get together, its explicit city, non stop, back to back. It's too much. We really don’t need all that…. 😅😅😅

9 - It seems that the further the story goes, the more Zuko is slowly turning into Ozai. He becomes mean and cruel with his words & over possessive of the one he loves, speaking meanly to Katara. Which she always quickly forgives and / or talks herself into believing that it's because he loves her so much. Which sounds and looks way too much like being in a verbally & mentally abusive relationship. (I don't like it!)

Zuko begins to scare those he talks to and enjoys it. He states that he has no qualms killing another over Katara, likes it's no big deal. And I'm over here just like... 👀

10 - THANKFULLY Zuko FINALLY turns back into his normal self eventually. And from here on out, his soft kind words to Katara are so heartfelt. (Thank Goodness!)

11 - Prostitutes and language start to abound. That's unfortunate.

12 - Thank Agni it finally gets So Much Better! They finally start acting like themselves again, and it's so much more enjoyable this way.

13 – However, *sometimes* the characters are still just not themselves.

14 – Thankfully, there are scenes that are written beautifully that are FULL of wonderful emotions, that kinda make up for the other things.

Overall, this story is written very well. We get not one but two major story/mystery plots! (Which I thought was SUPER awesome!) They keep you wondering what's going to happen.

And even though sometimes the things the characters do seem either out of character or makes you wonder why they aren't doing something they would normally do, the story still keeps you coming back to see what the heck is going to happen!

Side Note: This writer does not like Mai at all. lol I feel that 75% of the time Mai is OOC.

I do have more to say about this story (as if this wasn’t enough!) but those tid bits tell a bit of the story, so they are down below!

***Semi – Spoiler Notes***

1 - Zuko & Katara are way smarter & more mature than this fic allows them to be with their decision making process on love & feelings.

They KEEP DOUBTING what's going on with their feelings, like their aliens in a body.

2 - A "hundred" chapters later, Zuko's clean shaven face is finally mentioned again.

So... we're supposed to believe he only had stubble for weeks? <--This just REALLY bothered me. I really wish the author had remembered to tell us that his beard was getting long. It would have been interesting to hear what Katara thought about that! :)

3 - The Wedding was beautiful! And his soft kind words to her are so heartfelt! ♥ ♥ ♥

4 - chapter 48 seems to be the FIRST time Zuko FINALLY says: "I love you Katara." Which seems crazy to me. Maybe I'll have to reread previous chapters, but I feel like I was waiting for this and it finally happened.

5 - Zuko acts like he never had a father figure when Jee talks about being a father figure to him. I don't like that at all. Iroh was ALWAYS the father figure in EVERY WAY. Sure he could have another (Jee), but to make him think & act as if Zuko never had a father figure before isn't right. Ok, so... he mentions Iroh filling that roll later, but he still acts like it's of no consequence.

6 - After waiting SO LONG to get pregnant, Katara wonders if Zuko will be displeased to hear that she finally is!? What? Why????

Things sometimes are missed or don't make sense. Later they can't find the bad guy, and not once does using Jun to find him come up. Yet that's always the go to for EVERYTHING else! Iroh even used Jun to find them! But they don't think to use her to find the bad guy!? ....say what!?

7 - The birth and after the birth scene, are so perfect! Emotions everywhere! 💕💕

8 - This is the first Zutara baby name I have ever actually liked! – Kazuhiko

9 - They had multiple times to have Toph interrogate each person in the palace to see if anyone was lying about being a traitor. But just like they never use Jun to find the bad guys, they also never use Toph to find traitors. 🤔🤔🤔

10 - Why doesn't Aang learn How to heal using water bending already?

11 - There should have been a better reason as to why Katara didn't use her blood bending anyway to stop Ozai & his men.

So what if they had a kid as a hostage? If she could have froze them all with blood bending (even if only for a few moments), it wouldn't have mattered. They would all be frozen, so the kid could be rescued & the bad guys stopped by Zuko, Iroh, Suki, Sokka & everyone else that was there.

It didn't make any sense at all as to why she didn't freeze them all in place anyway. 🤷🏽‍♀️
